Marnti warajanga – a walk together was officially opened by the Museum of Australian Democracy and BHP Billiton on Friday 13 April, at Central Park. Dr Richard Walley, OAM and Nyoongar Man formally welcomed the exhibition and guests, including Bruce Thomas Chair of Wangka Maya Pilbara Aboriginal Language Centre and Senior Mangala Man.
The exhibition traveled to the Pilbara for six weeks as a community outreach initiative engaging remote communities to further tell their story. The communities participated in workshops in which they created more portraits and expanded the story being told through the exhibition.
